In November 2014, Bird & Bird merged with Truman Hoyle, a leading Australian law firm in the new economy, to open its first office in Australia and increase its presence in Asia Pacific to 5 offices, with 5 other formal collaboration agreements in Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Korea. Bird & Bird`s international growth continued with the opening of an office in Luxembourg in 2016, followed by the opening of a hub in Amsterdam in 2018 and the opening of a representative office in downtown San Francisco, its first office in the United States. In 2008, the firm opened a Finnish office in Helsinki through a merger with leading Finnish firm Fennica, as well as four additional offices in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, and a third office in China with the opening of an office in Shanghai.
